THE DOME OR BUST!

TO THE DOME!  It's crazy in New Orleans!  So many people are in costume... and everyone who isn't is dressed to support their favorite team.  Let me just say... Steelers fans are amazing!  They really follow their team.  I could NOT believe how many Pennsylvania people were in New Orleans.  Someone asked my friend Brenda if there was anyone left in Pittsburgh this weekend!

We started off in Champions Square... it's just outside of the Superdome where they provide food and entertainment before the game...
I had Shrimp Grits... talk about GOOD!

Here we are in front of the Superdome...

Brenda and Jake had field passes before the game began... so they were actually on the field as the Steelers warmed up before the game.  Jake wore #99's shirt... and it just so happened #99 was out injured so he wasn't on the field warming up... and he approached Jake and commented on Jake's shirt!  How cool is that!  So, Jake got a great picture on the field with him.

At 7:30pm it was game time...  it was so exciting as our Saints entered the field...
And then, we won!  20 -10, Saints!  Here's our reactions...
First, Aimee and Susan...
Then, Brenda and Jake...

Ha ha!  It was a great game... maybe next time!

And, last but not least, our cougar picture... WHO IS THAT?

So, that's the end of an AWESOME weekend!

GEAUX SAINTS!

It's Game Day in New Orleans!

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31st

Happy Halloween!  We are all getting ready for the game!  Our day started with coffee and beignets at Cafe Du Monde.  Then we walked around Jackson Square and enjoyed the local flavor.  I forgot how beautiful the St. Louis Cathedral is.  Here's some pictures of the Cabildo and the Cathedral...

We had lunch in Jackson Square... Susan and I shared a delicious shrimp poboy...

Jake had his face painted, Steeler Style...
I made a new friend...

And thought this t-shirt was so funny...

Now it's off to the game... time to DEAUX THAT!  GEAUX SAINTS!

WE BELIEVE!

Made it to New Orleans!

What a FUN weekend!  Here's a summary of Saturday...

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30TH

The weekend started in Baton Rouge with my mom and two sisters.  We all had a wonderful lunch at Perkins Rowe and enjoyed the art show that was there this weekend...
Here's me and mom at lunch... doesn't she look great for almost 81 years old!
And here she is with the street jester...
After lunch me and Susan headed to New Orleans to meet up with Brenda and Jake.  Well, some were calling it "The New Pittsburgh!"  I've never seen so many Steelers fans in my life!  New Orleans was overcome with them!  We were happy to see them spending their money in The Big Easy.  Brenda and Jake took an air boat ride this afternoon... they had a great time!  Susan and I were dressed for the occassion...
As we strolled down Bourbon Street, we passed a wedding party who were just married at the St. Louis Cathedral and were parading to their reception.  It looked like SO much fun!
It didn't take long in the Quarter for us to realize it was a CRAZY place.  I could NOT believe the number of girls who were baring their breasts for 29 cent beads!  Here's one...

Here's Brenda... you know what they say... big boobs, big beads...
Unfortunately, all I got were these beads... can you even see them?

As we headed to Pat O's it got crazier... here's a picture of the typical Halloween costume in the French Quarter...

Here we are in front of Pat O'Brien's...

This picture of Brenda sums it up... New Orleans really does smell awful...

That was our Saturday!  Time to rest up for the big game tomorrow... GEAUX SAINTS!

Made it to Louisiana!

WHO DAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm on my way to Louisiana for the Saints vs. Steelers football game!  I'm meeting my dear friends Susan and Brenda and Brenda's son, Jake, there.  Craig was supposed to go, but he's at a conference so Susan is taking his place.  I drove the Prius to Baton Rouge today... here she is at the Rest Area...
It was a BEAUTIFUL day for driving... a little windy, but look at this beautiful sky...

I feel like Scarlett coming home to Tara when I see this sign...

I'll be heading to New Orleans tomorrow.  We are taking a "haunted tour" of New Orleans on Saturday night and then cheering for the Saints on Sunday.  Well, Susan and I will be cheering for the Saints.  Brenda and Jake live in Pennsylvania and are huge Steeler fans... so they'll be cheering for the Steelers.  WHO DAT!
